Series 2 Race 2

Life in a boat with a fractional rig is better when there's wind. Last night the wind blew 15-20 from the West. The water couldn't have been flatter. A pretty nice night to go sailing.

We had a terrible start. I confused our Race Committee with one that knows which end of the line to set the boat. We had a second row start that caused me to whine for the first two minutes of the race. Luckily the crew convinced me not to do anything rash.

We held starboard for a long time tacking on to the port layline slightly over-stood. We ducked Meanie to round 5th or 6th. On the run we switched to the genoa. I'm not sure it was the right call, but I felt better. We passed Mojo on the run and rounded just inside of Meanie; tacked away almost immediately.

Off to the left we go. We gained significantly on the boats that went right. We round the mark in 3rd just ahead of Mayhem. The gybe-set was late and flawed. Mayhem passed us. We round leeward mark just inside of him. We hold port for a little while and then take the long starboard tack.

We round the weather mark in a solid 3rd, which is how we finished.

The rig was a little tighter than base

U = Base +4
L = Base +6

Headstay = Base

I wish we could gotten a bit more leech tension. I'll have to look into that.
