Series 1 Race 4

We had decent breeze 8-10 from the South for a change. The water was flat. There were some minor shifts, but all in all last night was a boat speed race. We had a reasonable start at the weather end. We were a little slow out of the gate, be tacked into clear air and were able to hold our own against Tommy.

It seemed like most of the fleet arrived at the weather mark together. Boats coming out of the left were slightly ahead. We had decent set and a quick gybe. We waited too long before gybing back to starboard. This made the douse harder than it needed to be. We lost three or four boats dropping the chute in the water.

We gained some ground going left on the second beat. I think we finished 7th. We have to work on a few rough edges, but I feel like we have acceptable boat speed. One thing we did well was to ease the jib halyard on the third beat when we felt slow.

The rig tension is at base

u=37
l=32
headstay = base (whatever that means) Before the start we took off 4 turns and put them back on two at a time as the breeze built.
